Charli XCX describes her Grammy ‘dream scenario’

Charli XCX has a whopping eight nominations going into Sunday’s Grammy Awards, and she shared with W magazine that she’d really like to turn the whole event into her own little party — though she knows it won’t happen.

“My dream scenario would be getting a plus-10 so I could bring all my best friends, but, realistically, I’ll probably get a plus-one,” she joked. “Maybe Troye [Sivan] and I can share and make it a plus-two.”

Charli’s BFF Troye is nominated this year for best dance pop recording for “Got Me Started,” while Charli’s categories include album of the year for Brat, best dance pop recording for “Von Dutch” and best pop solo performance for “Apple.”

She continues, “My vibe is just wanting to have a good time. Let’s be real, I wasn’t even on the Grammys’ radar last year, so it’s not something I ever expected.”

Charli says of Brat, “I wasn’t thinking that it would be very successful at all, despite believing in the music massively. I was making it for myself. To please everybody is sort of pointless.”

So on Sunday, how will she celebrate if she can’t have her crew with her?

“The thing is, wherever I am becomes fun anyway, so I’m sure I’ll figure it out,” Charli says. Addressing her interviewer, she adds, “I’m just a good time. Maybe one day we’ll go partying, and you’ll see exactly what I mean.”
